Art Curatorial Adviser, Marisa Caichiolo, is the Curator of Art component page.
My name is Marisa Caichiolo and I am the Art Curatorial Adviser for Journey Through The Senses. I have worked as an international curator for some of the most prestigious museums and arts institutions for the last 20 years, and my work as an artist has been shown quite extensively around the world as well. I am also the Founder and Executive Director for Building Bridges Art Exchange, a nonprofit international arts organization and gallery located in Santa Monica, California. Our mission is to increase cultural understanding through Art.
I have curated quite a number of exhibitions focusing on the crossover of art, science, technology, and performance, and have relationships with some of the top artists who focus on interactive and experimental contemporary art in which our guests will have an opportunity to become part of the art installations.
In the fall of 2017, I curated a highly-successful exhibition focused on inherited synaesthesia, SYNAESTHESIA: What is the taste of the color blue? We worked with synaesthete and neurodiverse artists, as well as scientists, to present an exhibition that was exciting, innovative, and brought delight through interactive and multi-sensory installations. Our exhibition was also featured during the LA Art Show at DIVERSEARTLA 2018.
Our vision for the Art Exhibition, Journey Through The Senses, is to expand out on many of the ideas we explored in the “Color Blue” Exhibition. We will invite some of the top artists in the world to create interactive, multi-sensory artworks that express their passion to explore the 11 recognized human senses and how we each are all neurodiverse in our own way.
Our goal is for people to experience the art, look inward, and learn new things about themselves and our world. We also hope to celebrate our neurodiversity and honor people who may seem different, but have wonderful gifts to share with the world.
I am delighted to be part of this ground-breaking, international project, and look forward to presenting a spectacular art exhibition that is thought-provoking and inspires joy and delight as well.
